Rider Profile Mark Hancock

Mark won his first street meet in 2001 on a Katana 1100 CC in street trim. Mark continued to race at Willowbank at Street Meet level until 2003 decided it was time to try his luck at the 2003 Winter nationals. Prior to this, Shane Brown road this bike at the Nationals in 2002 reaching semi final level. We had ET times down to 10.12 with Shane on the bike and 10.20 with Mark on it. In 2005 stepped bike up to wheelie bars, flat slick, lock up clutch and this proved to be successful as become runner up for Willowbank Track Championship Marty Searle. Times running now are 9.79 at 134 mph. This bike is known as 'little kat' and had its last meeting at Winter nationals 2008 running 9.90 on 9.90 dial in!! This bike has also won a National Open and bracket meets at Willowbank plus meetings at Warwick in race bike trim.

Looking to improve on times, Mark built Stretch Kat (1170 CC motor) with lengthened wheel base, wider slick, better brakes and front end, lectron carbies (instead of stock CV's). Times did improve with a 9.66 ET over quarter with only limited passes at test 'n' tune. Mark took this bike to Warwick Dragfest 08 and won the meet with 6.07 ET with 112 MPH over 1/8th mile. 60 foot quick and consistent - 1.35. Bike is more stable and behaves better in breaking area than Little Kat.

Mark was fortunate to purchase Prostock Roller from Graeme Weston in May 2008. Mark has since fitted 1460CC engine built by himself and Jo Marshall (the guru)... wired engine and ignition, sorted some 'bugs' out. Mark had to complete licence pass which

took a few attempts as had a few 'battery' issues. Mark was able to go down the track with 8.53 at 142 MPH pass. Mark entered 2nd ENZED night fire fuel meeting at Willowbank gaining number 1 qualifier with 8.96 at 140 MPH (short shifting). Round 1 - all bugs sorted and improved on qualifying pass with 8.48 at 152 MPH on a 8.53 dial in. Best 60 foot 1.19 to slowest 60 foot being 1.23. This combination is quick through the 60 foot. Mark is looking to go faster taking this combination to Comp Bike. Marks continued success could not have been achieved without the help and support from his mate and mentor Shane Brown, Jo Marshall (the guru) and crew (Scottie and Jess and Katrina (the wife).

Marks in the process of building bigger and better motor to ensure comp bike will happen and maybe pro bike in the future. However, Mark is seeking support from a sponsor to help him realise his dreams!!
